What seems like magic is actually nature. It is powerful and it is gorgeous.

This baby turtle had a long way to go. It appeared from behind my chair and headed onto the sand.

SABBATICALLING for the final time since the semester ends any day now. I’m so far removed from #academia that I’m not exactly sure of the calendar. This is the pleasure of #sabbatical.

SABBATICALLING!! Reading as if it’s my job. Because it actually is. Short stories, poetry, life writing, and a book about butts.

Last weekend, I embarked on #TheGreatSaunter with @shorewalkers_ny , a 32 mile jaunt around the perimeter of Manhattan. I got to 27 miles while @southpawsweets and company made it to the end. Super excited for them! As for me, I was surprised to find how sore I was for how long afterwards, as if 27 miles were an everyday thing for me. Then I woke up a few days later, and the ache was gone (aside from the usual mystery maladies). The human body is amazing in its resilience as is the human mind.

Thanks to Neologism Poetry for sharing my #poem “The Hatter Shakes.” I wrote it almost 10 years ago, and now it finally has a home!
