Poetry Chat: Let’s Talk About [fill in the theme here]
Session Length: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Description: Join in a conversation in which we read and discuss poems from different literary movements, various genres, and in a variety of structures. No prior knowledge is necessary to participate.
Poetry Writing Workshop
Session Length: 1 hour and 15 minutes to 3 hours
Description: Read some poems, listen to some prompts, and write your own poetry. Participants may share their writing with others, and if they wish, can receive constructive feedback. Open to first time writers as well as seasoned poets.
Meditate, Move, & Create Workshop
Session Length: 1 hour and 30 minutes to 3 hours
Description: On a chair or on a mat, you can join in for a session of meditation, yoga, and creating. Breathe and move to settle your thoughts and find some inspiration. Then pick up an instrument to write, sketch, play, or create in any way you wish. Open to all levels, including first-time writers, meditators, and yoga practitioners. Simply listening is also an option. Bring your own pens, paper, and other tools of craft as well as a towel or a yoga mat to practice on the floor (not necessary if on a chair).
Poetic Yoga and Meditation Chat
Session Length: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Description: On a chair or on a mat, you can join in for a session of meditation, yoga, and a little bit of poetry listening. Breathe and move to settle your thoughts and find some moments of calm and peace while listening to verse from a variety of poets. You can use a towel or a yoga mat to practice on the floor (not necessary if on a chair).
Hike Around And Write
Session Length: 2 hours (or more)
Description: Meeting at a park or boardwalk, we’ll take a walk, chat a bit, and then find a place to sit and write with optional prompts. Then we’ll take the walk back and share.
Themes for chat and workshop can be incorporated into the title and description.
Possible themes include: Ekphrastic (writing about art); Love poems; Surrealists and Deep Imagists; New York School; Identity Poetics; Speculative poems; List Poems; Letter Poems; Found Poetry; How to Submit to Publications; Contemporary poets
